Cue the quinoa, True Food Kitchen is planning to open a 6,400-square-foot restaurant in the ground floor space of Solaire Bethesda, a building under construction at the corner of Wisconsin and Woodmont avenues.
The restaurant is expected to open in 2016, according to a news release by Washington Property Company, the building’s developer.
True Food Kitchen is restaurant with 10 locations across the country that serves locally sourced food. The restaurant recently opened a location in Fairfax County in September. Menu items include kale salad, butternut squash pizza, a quinoa burger and entrees such as chicken tandoori, Panang curry and striped bass.
Sam Fox, founder of Fox Restaurant Concepts, developed the concept in partnership with Dr. Andrew Weil, an advocate for combining traditional medical practice with alternative medicine, according to the news release.
“We think Solaire Bethesda is the perfect location for True Food Kitchen,” said Daryl South, senior vice president for Washington Property Company. “Bethesda is home to the National institutes of Health and is one of the nation’s most bicycle-friendly communities. We think this exciting restaurant concept will be a magnet for Bethesda’s discerning and health-conscious residents as well as visitors from all over the area.”
Solaire Bethesda broke ground in June at the former Wisconsin Avenue location of Eastham’s Exxon Service Center. The $60 million building will include 139 apartment units and underground parking with 86 spaces.
