One of the complaints about the Bethesda Circulator bus system is that riders don’t know when the next bus is going to come.

Not anymore.

The Bethesda Urban Partnership (BUP) Tuesday unveiled a new app that lets Bethesda Circulator riders see the location of the buses.

The following are excerpts from the BUP press release announcing the app:

“The Bethesda Urban Partnership has launched a new FREE Application (App) accessible on the Apple and Android App stores featuring live updates on the Bethesda Circulator.  Circulator riders can now view the location of the Bethesda Circulators while waiting for the next bus.  The service also has a desktop website, accessible on www.bethesda.org, so riders can also view where the Circulators are located on the route from their home or office computers.

The free Bethesda Circulator’s route makes a 2.1 mile loop throughout downtown Bethesda and arrives at each of the 20 stops every 10–15 minutes.  Riders will now have the ability to know when within the 10-15 minute timeframe the Circulator will arrive at their stop. To download the free Bethesda Circulator app, visit your smart phone or tablet’s App store and type “Bethesda Circulator” into the search engine.

The Circulator averages more than 1,200 riders per day."
