Bethesda Beat Changes Commenting System

Disqus allows users to comment anonymously as well as use social media accounts

As a new daily news website, we’re constantly experimenting with ways to interact with our users.

When Bethesda Beat launched in late April we deployed with a Facebook commenting system that we thought would be easy for our readers to use. After a few months, we quickly realized we needed a more nimble system that didn’t link to our readers’ Facebook accounts.

So today, we’ve made the switch to the Disqus commenting system. The system is widely used on many websites, and among the features we think you’ll enjoy is the ability to comment anonymously, add pictures to comments and still be able to log in to comment with your social media accounts, if you so choose.

We hope the new system will lead to more interaction between you and our website and we encourage you to try it out if you have something to say, correct or critique. All you have to do is scroll to the bottom of a story.

While we are giving our users more freedom to say what they want by providing anonymity, we do ask that you keep discussions civil. We’ll be moderating the comments on the site, but can’t guarantee we’ll see every comment immediately, so please let us know if a comment seems inappropriate by emailing Bethesda Beat Editor Andrew Metcalf at andrew.metcalf@moco360.media, so we can review it. We also reserve the right to remove comments that we deem inappropriate.
