Construction to the entrance and parking areas of Brookside Gardens in Wheaton has led Montgomery Parks to cancel the 2014 Garden of Lights Show.

The illuminated garden walk at the 50-acre center is a popular annual holiday event.

Brookside Gardens is currently undergoing construction that when finished will include a new gatehouse, entrance signage, improved pedestrian entrance, additional 63 parking spaces and environmental design features such as permeable paving, recycled decking materials and rain gardens.

The construction is expected to be completed in June 2015.

“We regret having to cancel this year’s Garden of Lights Show,” said Stephanie Oberle, director of Brookside Gardens, in a statement. “We know how much our visitors love this event.”

Despite construction, the conservatory winter display and garden railway exhibit will be open to the public at Brookside Gardens from Nov. 28 to Jan. 11 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The display features miniature trains and trollies traveling through a landscape of town and country scenes.
