Bethesda Row Arts Festival this Saturday and Sunday on Bethesda Row
The Bethesda Row retail district will be transformed into an outdoor gallery this weekend when more than 190 artists display and sell their works, which include ceramics, drawing, paintings, photography, sculptures and more. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
World of Montgomery Festival on Sunday afternoon at Westfield Wheaton Plaza Mall
The 6th annual World of Montgomery Festival aims to celebrate the diversity of Montgomery County. “This is one event that tries to bring all of our community together,” said Bruce Adams, director of the county’s office of community partnerships. “You walk in and you feel like you’re in Ethiopia, India, China or El Salvador.”
The free event runs from noon to 5 p.m. in Westfield Wheaton mall’s outdoor parking lot. There will be two performance stages, chef demonstrations, food vendors and a craft market.
53rd Annual Rockville Antique and Classic Car Show on Saturday at Rockville Civic Center Park
Check out more than 500 antique and classic automobiles at this annual event that spreads out over the grounds of Rockville Civic Center Park. The free show runs from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and will feature the Rockville Concert Band. The park is located at 603 Edmonston Drive in Rockville.
Bannockburn Music Festival on Saturday afternoon and evening at Bannockburn Clubhouse
The 4th annual community music festival will start at noon at the community clubhouse in the Bethesda neighborhood. More than a dozen local bands and artists will take the stage at the event, which supports the Bannockburn Community Club. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. The clubhouse is located at 6314 Bannockburn Drive in Bethesda.
National Philharmonic kicks off 2014 -2015 Season on Saturday and Sunday at Strathmore
The National Philharmonic will begin its 2014-2015 season at Strathmore with a performance of Mendelssohn, Sibelius and Dvorak at 8 p.m. Saturday and a second show at 3 p.m. Sunday. Violinist Chee-Yun will play Sibelius’ Concerto for Violin and the program will finish with Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9, “From the New World.” Tickets range from $37 to $84.
