Body Exhumed in Alabama is Not Bradford Bishop

FBI says DNA is not a match to Bethesda fugitive, according to local reports

The FBI said Wednesday night that the body of an unidentified man exhumed from a grave in Alabama is not Bethesda fugitive William Bradford Bishop, according to the Associated Press.

Police had hoped the body of an unidentified man who was struck and killed by a car in 1981 may be Bishop, who the FBI has been looking for since 1976, when police found Bishop’s family members in a shallow grave in North Carolina. Police believe Bishop killed his family inside his Bethesda home, dumped and burned their bodies in North Carolina and then disappeared.

Bishop is listed on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted List. A former state department worker with the ability to speak multiple languages, Bishop would now be 78, and police believe his familiarity with foreign countries may have led him out of the U.S.
