Monday through Friday highs are predicted to be in the low to mid-70s, with nighttime lows dropping into the 50s. Each day is expected to be either clear and sunny or partly sunny.
County Council to discuss drones and interview planning board candidates – Councilmembers are putting forth a resolution to ask county staff to create a policy governing the use of small drones after a discussion about the county’s four small drones took place in a committee meeting two weeks ago. Also, the council is scheduled to interview the four applicants remaining for the planning board seat vacated by Casey Anderson after he became chair. The candidates are Charles Kauffman, Victor Weissberg, Dennis Kamber and Natali Fani-Gonzalez.
Bainbridge Bethesda to host grand opening – Although residents moved in a few months ago, the Bainbridge Bethesda apartment building on Fairmont Avenue will host its grand opening on Thursday. The new building features 200 units, a rooftop pool and exercise center. It’s the latest large apartment building to open amidst downtown Bethesda’s recent building boom. The grand opening takes place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday. Food and drink will be provided in the residential amenity areas.
Purple Line Twitter chat with Councilmember George Leventhal tonight – The Action Committee for Transit is scheduled to host a Twitter chat with at-large Councilmember George Leventhal tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. as part of Car Free Day. The chat is expected to highlight the need for the Purple Line, which supporters say will reduce east-west travel time significantly in Montgomery County and allow more local residents to go car free. The chat will use the hashtag #GoPurpleCarFree. This morning, ACT’s Sareana Kimia traveled from her home near the Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro Station to the University of Maryland campus for a 9 a.m. class. The approximately 11 mile trip took Kimia about two hours on three different buses, according to Kimia.
