Weekend Events: Food Truck Rally in Westbard; Cavalcade of Streetcars

Plus: Park after Dark fundraiser and a fall festival in downtown Bethesda

Food Truck Rally – Saturday – Westwood Shopping Center, Westbard Avenue, Bethesda

Equity One, the owners of the Westwood Shopping Center, has invited several DC-area food trucks to come out for a rally on Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. at the shopping center. The event will feature a DJ and include a school supply drive as well. People who donate school supplies will be eligible to win gift cards from Westwood Shopping Center merchants.

Park after Dark Fundraiser – Saturday evening – Great Falls Tavern, 11710 MacArthur Blvd., Potomac

The C&O Canal trust is hosting the fourth annual “Park after Dark” fundraiser to benefit the C&O Canal Historical Park. The event takes place outside at Great Falls Tavern in Potomac and starts at 6 p.m. Tickets for the event are $175 per person and proceeds will be used to the group’s work preserving the 184.5 mile long canal towpath.

10th Annual Walk for Children and Fall Festival – Sunday – Woodmont Triangle, Bethesda

Children of Persia will host a fundraising walk and festival in Woodmont Triangle from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. The walk begins at noon and the free festival will include arts and crafts exhibits, a bake sale and children’s activities such as face painting. The event takes place at the intersection of Woodmont and Norfolk avenues.

Kensington 8K – Saturday morning – Kensington

Although registration for the Kensington 8K is now closed, you can still take in the sights as racers attack the course that winds around Kensington. The runners take off at 8:30 a.m. at the corner of Caroll Place and Montgomery Avenue and then loop around the town and finish running downhill into Reinhardt Park.

 Cavalcade of Streetcars – Sunday – National Capital Trolley Museum, 1313 Bonifant Road, Colesville

Streetcars are making a resurgence. The latest streetcars are set to debut soon on H Street in the District. On Sunday you can see historical streetcars in action at the National Capital Trolley Museum. Normally, the museum will have just one or two streetcars for patrons to ride on, but on Sunday the museum will have several European and North American streetcars for visitors to ride throughout the day. The event takes place at the museum from noon to 4 p.m.
