Metro has chosen Streetscape Partners, LLC, to develop a 4.5-acre lot next to the Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro station.
Streetscape is proposing to build about 550 residential units and 6,000 square feet of ground-floor retail at the site.
Metro has been looking for a partner to develop the site since 2002. The lot is located on valuable land next to the station at the intersection of Rockville Pike and Tuckerman Lane. Two other developers previously selected to develop the site never began construction, according to the Gazette.
The existing surface parking spaces at the site will be replaced with an extension to the existing parking garage, according to Metro. Metro reported construction is expected to begin in 2019.
You may know some local projects Streetscape Partners has constructed. The company developed the Symphony Park townhomes next to Strathmore and Chestnut Lodge, a group of single-family homes in Rockville.
