Here comes the fall weather – Officially, there’s still eight days of summer left, but we’ll start to see some fall weather this week. A high of 73 is predicted today, with a low tonight around 60 degrees and a slight chance of showers overnight, according to the National Weather Service. The rest of the week should be beautiful. The weather service predicts highs in the low 70s and evening lows in the mid-50s on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Del Frisco’s Grille to open at Pike & Rose – The first full-service restaurant at Federal Realty’s Pike & Rose development on Rockville Pike is scheduled to have its grand opening Thursday. Del Frisco’s Grille, an American bar and grill, will be the first of several new restaurants and entertainment venues to open in the new neighborhood built from the ground up by Federal Realty. Later this fall, several more openings are scheduled, including the iPic Movie Theaters, City Perch and ShopHouse Southeast Asian Kitchen.

Council to receive update on Silver Spring Transit Center – The Montgomery County Council is scheduled to receive its ninth status update on how problems at the Silver Spring Transit Center are being remediated on Tuesday. David Dise, the director of the department of general services, wrote in an update on work progress this month that preparatory work to begin fixing beams is complete, now crews are beginning to install strut beams and cap ties to reinforce the structure. The meeting may provide more details about a possible opening date for the beleaguered $120 million transit center that’s now four years behind schedule and tens of millions of dollars over budget.

Planning Board to review bank proposal in downtown Bethesda – TD Bank would like to build a single-story bank structure at the current location of the Shell Gas station at the corner of Woodmont Avenue and Old Georgetown Road in Bethesda. Planning department staff recommended the project for approval and it comes before the Montgomery Planning Board this Thursday. Also on the agenda is a proposal to reduce the amount of retail space at a high-rise apartment building being developed at 7340 Wisconsin Avenue from 15,000 square feet to 5,500 square feet. The site is the former location of an Exxon gas station. The developer, Bainbridge, plans to keep the same number of apartment units—225—but would like to make them larger, according to the project plan amendment.
