Floods. Storms. Heat waves. The occasional earthquake.
These aren’t signs of the end of the world. This is everyday life in Montgomery County.
To help prepare residents for the range of emergencies they might face, from power outages to chemical spills, the Montgomery County Community Emergency Response Team is holding a Storm Camp.
The free four-hour course is intended to show adults and children how to build a home disaster kit, safely operate a fire extinguisher, respond to common life-threatening medical emergencies and prepare their homes, workplaces and neighborhoods for emergencies. A special program is provided for children ages 4-10.
The storm camp is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 13 from 1-5 p.m. at the Montgomery County Public Safety Headquarters Building, 100 Edison Park Drive, in Gaithersburg. For information, email stormcamp@montgomerycert.org or call Greg St. James at 240- 777-2407.
