Cost of Redskins games fourth most expensive among NFL teams – A new report released to coincide with the start of the NFL season found Washington Redskins games are the fourth most expensive among NFL teams for a family to attend. Even though the average ticket price at FedEx held steady this year at $102, according to Team Marketing, other costs such as concessions, programs and merchandise factored into the ranking meant the average family of four would spend $597.51 to attend a game. Only the New England Patriots ($624.70), the Dallas Cowboys ($634.80) and San Francisco 49ers ($641.50) were more expensive for a family of four. San Francisco’s ticket prices jumped 40 percent as the team opened its new stadium this year. On the other hand, it’s relatively cheap to see the struggling Jacksonville Jaguars play, which ranked last on the list with a family of four estimated price of $346.
Quench Restaurant under new ownership – Quench, the Rockville bar and eatery that opened on Traville Gateway Drive in 2012, has been sold. Former owner Michael Holstein said he sold it to Vitune Sthiennukul in order to pursue his career as a TV producer. He said Sthiennukul is a local man who is interested in keeping the restaurant thriving. Sthiennukul declined to comment on his plans for the restaurant, but a Facebook post says the eatery is offering new dishes including crab cakes and rib-eye, as well as a Wednesday ladies night with 50 percent off the price of drinks for women after 7 p.m. Chef Ed Hardy is expected to stay on to help the new owner with the transition.

Councilmembers propose bill to require contractors to provide apprenticeship training – Montgomery County Councilmembers Cherri Branson and Hans Riemer plan to introduce a bill today that would require contractors conducting work for the county to provide apprenticeship training. The goal of the bill is to increase the number of skilled local construction workers. According to the bill, the apprentices would either be trained on a given project and paid at a rate set by the state’s Apprenticeship and Training Council or a contractor would be required to pay into a fund that would support training programs such as the building and construction technology program at Montgomery College.
Two Bethesda community banks merge – Congressional Bancshares Inc. and American Bank Holdings Inc., announced last week they will merge into one business. American Bank has about $456 million in assets and five offices in the D.C. area while Congressional has about $428 million in assets and four offices in the area. Both are headquartered in Bethesda. Company officials said the merger with American will enable Congressional to expand its services and add a large residential mortgage business.
