Montgomery County Police are waiting to release the name of the man fatally struck by a CSX train in Gaithersburg Saturday because they have not yet been able to notify the man’s family as of Monday morning.
Police spokeswoman Blanca Kling said police have identified the man, but have not yet been able to notify his family. Once they do that, she said they will release his name.
Police said in a press release the man was fatally struck by a CSX freight train around 7:30 p.m. Saturday night. The train engineer saw the man on the tracks just past Oakmont Avenue, applied the brakes and sounded the horn multiple times before striking him, according to police. Police said no foul play is suspected at this time.
