Federal Realty says ‘new additions will be announced soon’ after restaurant closings at Rockville Town Square

Since the end of May a total of four restaurants have closed at Federal Realty’s Rockville Town Square in downtown Rockville. But Federal Realty prefers to talk about a new restaurant by renowned chef Peter Chang that’s coming to the development.

“Federal Realty is committed to providing the best options in dining for its Rockville customers and the addition of Peter Chang’s fills this commitment quite well,” spokesman Jill Powell wrote in an email. “Our leasing team continuously seeks the best dining options to add to the Rockville Town Square mix and new additions will be announced soon.”

Macon launching weekly ‘Wine Salons’

Macon Bistro & Larder, the combination French and Southern cooking restaurant that opened in May in Chevy Chase, D.C., is launching “Wine Salons” at its bar on Wednesdays. The weekly event will feature a free flight of three French wines served with complimentary hors d’oeuvres from 5 to 6 p.m. The event is hosted by the restaurant’s general manager and sommelier, Gene Alexeyev, who will also provide information about the wines. Get there promptly if you want a seat because space is limited to the 16 seats at the bar. The salons will be held through the fall, according to the restaurant. The salon on Sept. 10 will feature Gamay wines and charcuterie.

Chessie Fest returns to Grapeseed

In the mood for seafood? Woodmont Triangle mainstay Grapeseed will hold its second event featuring sustainable seafood on Sept. 13. The first Chessie Fest was held in May and featured oysters, blue catfish, blue rays, smoked bluefish and fried foods. This time, the Bethesda restaurant will offer wine and beer specials, Chesapeake Bay oysters, blue catfish and door prizes. Advance tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the restaurant; tickets at the door will cost $30.
