Motorcyclist Killed in Potomac Collision

25-year-old Pennsylvania man died after being struck at the intersection of River and Travilah roads

A 25-year-old Pennsylvania man died Wednesday night after his motorcycle was struck by a BMW SUV on River Road in Potomac.

Police said the 2011 BMW X5 attempted to make a left turn onto Rivers Edge Drive when it collided with the 2014 Honda NC700 motorcycle, which was traveling south on River Road, at 3:53 p.m. Witnesses at the scene attempted to administer first aid to the motorcyclist before he was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, according to police.

The motorcyclist, identified by police as Navdeep Sing Kang, 25 of Sewickley, Pa., later died at the hospital. Police identified the driver of the BMW as Ritula Bhutani Mehndiratta, 46, of the 1000 block of Abbey Drive in Potomac.

The intersection where the accident occurred was closed into Wednesday evening while police worked at the scene.

Police are continuing to investigate the collision.
