Stanford Grill, a restaurant specializing in wood-fired steak, chicken and fish, is slated to open in Rockville next year.
The location at 2000 Tower Oaks Boulevard location, an environmentally-designed office building that serves as corporate headquarters for developers Lerner Enterprises and The Tower Companies, will be the second location for the restaurant. The first Stanford Grill opened in Columbia in 2012.
In addition to its menu of wood-fired meats, the new restaurant will also include a bakery and sushi bar. It is owned by the Blueridge Restaurant Group, which also owns the Copper Canyon line of restaurants, including locations in Silver Spring and Gaithersburg.
“Our goal is to always elevate our patrons’ dining experience by offering great tasting meals and satisfying portions, in a richly-appointed environment that is both elegant and comfortable,” said Juancarlo Parkhurst, Blueridge Restaurant Group’s chief of operations.
The Columbia location was rated Best New Restaurant in 2012 and Best Steaks in 2013 by Howard Magazine.
The 400-seat restaurant will occupy 8,000 sqaure feet on the first floor of the building, which was one of the first office buildings in Maryland to be designated as LEED Platinum by the US Green Building Council for its environmentally-sensitive design. The restaurant will include a private outdoor patio, an open fire pit, live nightly entertainment, a wine cellar and valet parking. The bar will feature an array of martinis, specialty drinks, cocktails and beers on tap.
Parkhurst said the location was chosen in part because of its LEED designation.
“We are currently taking steps to make our new Stanford Grill a certified green restaurant,” he said. “Being located in a designated LEED building will help us to meet our goal.”
