Get those pencils, pens and backpacks ready, students return to schools Monday in Montgomery County.
To help parents out, Montgomery County Public Schools has a handy checklist to make sure students have everything they need to start the new school year.
Here’s what you should have, according to MCPS:

- A completed student emergency information form. The form ensures that schools can contact parents about school closings or other emergencies. MCPS also recommends letting your school know if any of your information changes during the school year.
- Sign up for Edline. Your kid forgets his or her report card? No problem. Edline is a website that allows parents to monitor their child’s grades as well as assignments. Parents can get the activation codes required for the website through their child’s school and can receive additional help from the schools’ office of community engagement.
- Print out the 2014-2015 calendar and take note of professional days you may have to prepare for (students have Halloween off this year).
- Find your child’s bus route. MCPS has a full list of bus routes, broken down by school, on its website. Also, below is the bell schedule for Bethesda area schools.
- Add money to your child’s myluncmoney.com account. The program allows students to purchase lunch without cash or check, although schools accept both payment methods.
- Make plans to attend your child’s back-to-school night. The event is scheduled at each school shortly after the beginning of the school year. Check with your school or child to find the date of your school’s event.
