Week Ahead: Prepare for Thunderstorms, Blaze Pizza to Open

Plus: Best of Bethesda voting underway

A chance of thunderstorms all week – We could see rain any day this week, according to the National Weather Service. There’s a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms tonight, tomorrow, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Highs each day are expected to be in the mid-80s with nighttime lows dropping into the upper 60s. A hazardous weather outlook issued by the weather service this morning warns of the possibility of heavy rainfall tonight.

Mall expansion to begin opening – The new dining terrace at the Westfield Montgomery mall is expected to begin opening later this week. Mall officials estimated construction would be completed Friday.

The mall also announced today that Blaze Pizza, a new restaurant at the mall near entrance 4, will open on Thursday.

Teachers return to school, students head back next week – Teachers at Montgomery County Public Schools returned to classrooms today as they prepare for the upcoming school year. Students return for the first day of school on Monday.

Best of Bethesda voting underway – Bethesda Magazine has opened voting for Best of Bethesda 2015. You can now vote for your favorite restaurant, cocktails, personal trainer, barbershop, landscaping company and more. Voting officially began on Friday and will continue until Sept. 15. The winners will be published in the January/ February issue of the magazine, which is released on Feb. 1.
