Monument Bank, which opened in Bethesda in 2005, will move its headquarters to Rockville by the end of the year, said President and CEO H.L. Ward.

The bank will move its administrative offices from 7401 Wisconsin Ave. to a building at 2101 Gaither Road, in the Park Plaza at Shady Grove.  With the bank’s 10-year lease in Bethesda about to expire, Ward said bank officials “tried to find suitable space in Bethesda, but it just wasn’t happening.”  He said cost and the end of the lease were the primary reasons for the move.

Monument Bank will also relocate its Bethesda branch sometime in the spring of next year from 7475 Wisconsin Ave. to a larger space at 7700 Old Georgetown Road in the Garden Plaza building. The branch will be a regional banking center that includes business development and possibly lending services, according to Ward.
