Woodmont Avenue Near Bethesda Row to Open Soon

Project director says they're finishing up details before reopening

Udated – Aug. 18 – The project director of the Lot 31 development near Bethesda Row said the stretch of Woodmont Avenue closed for construction will likely reopen this week.

Jane Mahaffie, the project director for developer StonebridgeCarras, said that while there was talk of the road opening Aug. 15, construction crews are still “finishing up details.”

She said the stretch of road that’s been closed for nearly two years will reopen as a vehicle-only two-way road. As construction on the Lot 31 project winds down, Mahaffie said, a sidewalk, bike lanes and an additional traffic lane will be added. Some of these features will be added by the time the 970-space public garage opens in early January and the rest will be completed before the rest of the project opens in June of 2015, according to Mahaffie.

In addition to the parking garage, the Lot 31 project includes The Darcy, a condominium building; and the The Flats, an apartment building. Both will feature ground-floor retail and restaurants.
