Montgomery County Agricultural Fair Kicks Off – All Weekend – County Fairgrounds (Gaithersburg)
Head up to Gaithersburg for the first weekend of the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair. The annual event features local animals, carnival rides, pig races and special events. This weekend's grandstand events include Big Time Pro Wrestling (7:30 p.m., Friday) and a draft horse pull (6 p.m., Saturday). Reggae Night – Friday – Carter Barron Amphitheatre at Rock Creek Park

Tom Principato – Friday – Rockville Town Square
Local blues guitarist Tom Principato is the latest act to play the City of Rockville’s Friday Night Live free concert series. The concert begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Dawson’s Market Stage in downtown Rockville.
Jesse McCartney – Friday – The Fillmore Silver Spring

Miss Africa USA Pageant – Saturday – Music Center at Strathmore
The Miss Africa USA pageant is designed to highlight the stories of African women living in America. The event started in Atlanta in 2005 and has since grown into an annual event. This year’s contestants come from countries such as Tanzania, Uganda, Gambia and Kenya. Tickets range from $30 to $100 and the event begins at 7 p.m. at the music center (5301 Tuckerman Lane, North Bethesda)
WWI Silent Films with Music – Saturday – American Film Institute and Culture Center
Nations around the world remembered the 100th anniversary of the Great War this week and AFI Silver Theater (8633 Colesville Rd., Silver Spring) will do the same with its ongoing series of early 20th century films. Saturday at 1:115 p.m., the theater will show silent French film “J’Accuse” with live musical accompaniment. Purchase tickets at the door or online here.

Sunday Afternoon Ballroom Dance – Sunday – Glen Echo Park
Should you wish to dance this weekend, try Glen Echo Park’s historic Spanish Ballroom (7300 MacArthur Blvd., Glen Echo) for ballroom dancing lessons at 3 p.m. on Sunday. The dance starts an hour later and lasts until 6 p.m. Admission is $14.
