A Montgomery County jury found a Potomac man guilty of multiple charges related to an incident in November of last year when he stabbed two people after a road rage incident in the parking lot of the Westfield Montgomery Mall.
David Goldberg, 25, of the 1300 block of Seven Locks Road, was found guilty of second-degree assault, voluntary manslaughter and other charges on Wednesday, according to WJLA TV.
However, jurors found Goldberg not guilty of the most serious charges—two counts each of first- and second-degree murder, according to the news station.
Police said at the time of the incident that Goldberg initially got into an argument with the two occupants of another vehicle outside the mall over a right-of-way issue. After the argument, the two occupants in the other car later parked near the Sears store and got out of their vehicle. It was at that time Goldberg charged at the male and female couple, stabbing the man in the upper back, left cheek and right bicep and the woman in the stomach, according to court documents cited by BethesdaNow.
During the incident, Goldberg’s 2-year-old daughter was in his car, according to WJLA. The news station reported Goldberg faces a maximum of 165 years and is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 18.
