Looks like another building may be in the works between St. Elmo and Fairmont Avenues in downtown Bethesda.

A community meeting is scheduled to detail a multi-family residential and non-residential development at 7 p.m. on Aug. 11 at the Bethesda Regional Services Center.

The lot is located at 4922 St. Elmo Avenue and is currently the location of a two-story office building that fronts Fairmont Avenue as well as a parking lot with an entrance from St. Elmo. The property is owned by The Lenkin Company, which is headquartered in the St. Elmo building and has developed properties primarily in the District.

The area surrounding the lot has seen significant construction in the past two years. The 17-story Bainbridge Bethesda apartment building finished major construction last month adjacent to the site, while across the street The JBG Companies’ 7700 Norfolk apartment building, which will include 244 units, is not expected to be completed until 2016.

Local businesses in the area have already complained about the effect construction has had on business, particularly for restaurants located on Fairmont Avenue.
