Hot, Humid Weather – The August heat appears to have arrived. This week we can expect hot, muggy days with possible rain, according to the National Weather Service. Monday through Thursday highs will reach into the upper-80s, with nighttime lows falling into the mid-60s. Each day there’s a 30 percent chance of rain as well as a chance of thunderstorms. The weekend is shaping up to be a beauty though, with highs around 80 degrees and sunny skies, according to the weather service.

Recess Time – The Montgomery County Council and Montgomery Planning Board are on recess this month. No formal meetings are scheduled.

Cedar Lane Reopens – Crews are still finishing construction on the intersection of Cedar Lane near Rockville Pike, but the road is now open, according to The State Highway Administration. SHA worked for the past two months to add two new lanes and realign a culvert for a stream traveling underneath the road. The $13.8 million project is part of the Bethesda Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) reconstruction project.

MTA Provides Chevy Chase with Purple Line Data – The town of Chevy Chase received data related to Purple Line ridership numbers last week. Maryland Transit Administration officials sent the town  software needed to analyze the data as well, according to the Gazette. The report noted the estimates use the term “riders” to mean the number of boardings, so round trips by one person count as two riders. The town requested the data after a Wall Street Journal opinion piece speculated the ridership estimates may be inflated.
