Update – 1:10 p.m. – Police said Monday a 21-year-old Hyattsville man has died after being struck Sunday night by a pickup truck while crossing First Street at the intersection of Maple Avenue in Rockville.
Police identified the man as Roberto Flores, of the 6900 block of 24th Avenue. Flores was crossing First Street when he was struck by a Toyota Tocama traveling westbound on First Street around 11:40 p.m., according to police.
Police originally reported Flores was in grave condition following the collision, but said later he succumbed to his injuries Monday morning at Shady Grove Hospital.
The driver of the Tacoma, Robert Martin, 36, of Germantown, remained on the scene and was not injured, police said. Flores was transported to a local hospital in grave condition Monday, according to police. Police said the collision remains under investigation and are asking anyone who may have information to contact them at 240-773-6620.
Police said Tuesday they are waiting for the investigation to be completed to determine if any charges will be filed.
