Unattended incense is believed to have caused the fire

Two people suffered minor injuries and nine people were displaced after a fire broke out at an apartment building in Rockville late Thursday night.

Fire department spokesman Pete Piringer said officials believe unattended incenses may have started the fire that caused an estimated $75,000 in damage at the 5578 Burnside Drive building.

The two people that were injured suffered from smoke inhalation and were transported to a burn center, according to Piringer.

The fire broke out around 11:45 p.m. Friday night on the second floor of the four-story apartment building. Firefighters extinguished the blaze in about an hour, but not before it extended to the third floor, Piringer said.
