No Summer Bethesda-Chevy Chase Restaurant Week This Year

Sorry foodies, there will be no special fixed price menus at restaurants in Bethesda and Chevy Chase this summer. BethesdaNow first reported the news that no lead organizer stepped up to the plate to coordinate the event. Trader Joe’s May Join 7900 Wisconsin Apartment Project

A representative of The JBG Companies who was presenting an update on the 7900 Wisconsin Ave. mixed-use project Tuesday night reportedly let it slip that a Trader Joe’s may be the anchor retail tenant at the new building, according to local blogger Robert Dyer. “Don’t expect official, public confirmation of the signing at this juncture,” Dyer wrote. A Trader Joe’s store is located about 1 mile south of the project in the Shops of Wisconsin at 6831 Wisconsin Ave.

Food Wine & Co., the Wisconsin Avenue restaurant, launched its new summer menu last week. It includes the return of pizzas (cooked in a cast iron pan) topped with items including BBQ chicken, scallions, red onion and chili. The new menu also includes a tomato gazpacho, charred octopus and a seared rare tuna entrée. Pastry chef Eva Stafford has created two new desserts—a blueberry cheesecake and a lemon meringue with passion fruit cream.
