Kevin Giblin, the Georgetown Preparatory School coach whose teams have dominated regional high school lacrosse, resigned his position days after Washingtonian contacted him and the school about his alleged involvement in a bar fight in mid-June at Caddies on Cordell, according to the magazine.
The report says the school and Giblin have declined to answer questions about the alleged incident.
Montgomery County Police said they don’t have a record of any calls from the Bethesda bar during the time period in question. Giblin has not been charged with any crime, according to Maryland online court records.
In an email to school parents that’s included in Washingtonian’s report, the school’s athletic director, Dan Paro, acknowledged that the school has accepted Giblin’s resignation and praised him for his 424-89 record and the 10 IAC titles that were won during his tenure.
“Georgetown Prep lacrosse has a proud and rich tradition and we are fully committed to the program going forward,” Paro wrote in the letter. “I would like to thank Coach Giblin for his hard work, dedication and genuine commitment to the students, alumni, and parents of Prep.”
