Firefighters Extinguish Basement Blaze in Chevy Chase

No injuries were reported in the Monday morning fire

Montgomery County firefighters put out a fire in the basement of a Chevy Chase home Monday morning

The fire broke out around 8:15 a.m. at a two-story residence in the 3100 block of Cummings Lane, near Western Avenue, according to fire department spokesman Pete Piringer.

All occupants managed to escape the home and no injuries were reported, according to Piringer.

Piringer reported the fire was mostly contained to the basement of the home, but it also extended to the first floor.

Police closed Western Avenue at Beech Street NW ask firefighters worked to extinguish the fire.
