Dave & Buster’s GM Unsure of Future at White Flint Mall

Employee says arcade and restaurant will leave by August 17

July 28, 2014 5:44 p.m.

Six days after a federal judge ordered Dave & Buster’s to vacate its space in White Flint Mall in 30 days, General Manager Bobby Solomon said the company is not sure what’s going to happen. There’s “nothing definite” yet, Solomon told Bethesda Beat.

But a Dave & Busters employee who was working Monday said that he was told that the location will close by Aug. 17.

Federal Judge Roger W. Titus last week ruled in favor of the mall’s owners, Lerner Enterprises, and agreed that Dave & Buster’s violated its lease by opening a second location at Arundel Mills, which was inside the radius prohibited by the lease. As a result, Lerner Enterprises can evict Dave & Busters from White Flint, the judge ruled.

The Dave & Busters employee said he and colleagues have been offered positions at the Arundel Mills location, but he added, “that’s too far for me.”

The employee said he has worked at the arcade and restaurant for seven years, but will now have to find a new job.

A representative from Dave & Buster’s corporate marketing department did not respond to a request for comment.

Dave & Buster's is currently one of the last remaining tenants in the nearly-abandoned mall, which is slated for redevelopment. If Dave & Buster's does move out soon, that will leave only Lord & Taylor and PF Chang's at the mall.
