Firefighters swarmed the Comcast Sports building on Wisconsin Avenue Friday afternoon to extinguish a small fire.

A firefighter at the scene said an elevator motor had caught fire and was smoking when they arrived around 4:50 p.m.

Wisconsin Avenue was closed in both directions between Norfolk Avenue and Middleton Lane in downtown Bethesda for about 30 minutes while firefighters dealt with the issue. Firefighters have now cleared the scene, but commuters may still experience backups near the building at 7700 Wisconsin Ave.
