Update: Driver Dead after Vehicle Leaves Roadway in Potomac

Police believe man, 83, may have suffered a medical emergency

Udpate – 4:20 p.m. – Police say the man whose vehicle struck a garage in Potomac Friday morning has died. Police identified the man as Thomas A. Brown, 83, of Potomac.

Police believe Brown may have suffered a medical emergency, rather than died from injuries suffered in the collision. Investigators are waiting for the results of an autopsy before they release an official cause of death.

Rebecca Innoncenti, a police spokeswoman, said police received a call about the single vehicle collision at 9:24 a.m. in the 11100 block of Gainsborough Road. Brown was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Brown's silver 2000 BMW appears to have struck the side portion of the attached garage, then stopped in front of a window of the home.

SUV Overturns on Nicholson Lane

Multiple people were injured after an SUV overturned on Nicholson Lane in North Bethesda around 6 p.m. Thursday night.

Pictures from the scene show the Silver Toyota SUV lying on its side as onlookers rush to the aid of those inside. A witness at the scene told Bethesda Beat that bystanders helped to extract the occupants through the passenger side doors before emergency workers arrived.

Multiple people were injured, but none of the inuries appeared to be life-threatening, according to police spokeswoman Rebecca Innocenti.
