Montgomery County was the only county in the state to be designated as a tech savvy county by The Public Technology Institute.
PTI awarded just four jurisdictions nationwide with the designation, which highlighted local governments for their work incorporating technology. The other jurisdictions were Evanston, Il., Pinellas County, Fl., and Sacramento County, Ca.
PTI highlighted the county’s culture of technology innovation, in particular the following initiatives:
- dataMontgomery – the county’s system of making public datasets available
- mobileMontgomery – making information and services accessible through mobile devices
- engageMontgomery – the online forum where county residents can share ideas and collaborate
- accessMontgomery – putting reports, budgets and contracts online for residents to access
“As in so many other categories, Montgomery County is a leader among local governments,” said County Executive Ike Leggett, in a press release. “I’m proud of what we have accomplished – and will accomplish in the future.”
