The Maryland businessman who owns the franchise rights to open Steak ‘n Shake restaurants in the state plans to open one of the first 10 locations in Silver Spring, according to the Baltimore Business Journal.
Khalil Ahmad, of Hanover, told the Journal the first location will open in Millersville in September and then he plans to open other locations in Annapolis, Arundel Mills, Bowie, Catonsville, Crofton, Owings Mills, BWI Airport and Silver Spring.
Eventually Ahmad hopes to open 37 Steak ‘n Shake locations in the state, according to the report.
The “steakburger” and milkshake restaurant primarily operates in the Midwest and Southern United States. The company owns 400 restaurants, while another 100 are franchised. The company was founded in 1934 and is currently in the process of a large expansion.
