Police Blotter: Fake Beard Worn in Silver Spring Bank Robbery

Bank robbery

A man robbed the Capital One bank at 115 University Boulevard West around 3:15 p.m. on July 2. Police described the suspect as a man of unknown race, about 5-foot-10, 160 pounds, who was wearing a fake beard and a bandana on his head.

Robbery on Sligo Avenue

Three men assaulted and took property from someone in the 700 block of Sligo Avenue between 2:50 a.m. and 3:05 a.m. on July 6.

Assault at the Fillmore

A suspect known to the victim assaulted him or her at The Fillmore around 12:15 a.m. on July 2.

Five arrested in Wayne Avenue burglary

Four men and one woman all between the ages of 18 to 28 were arrested in a residential burglary that occurred around 10:45 a.m. on July 5 in the 800 block of Wayne Avenue.

Security officer assaulted at City Place Mall

A 50-year-old man with no fixed address was arrested at the Brass Hen Restaurant in City Place Mall after he reportedly stole items and then assaulted a security officer around 9:30 p.m. on July 7.

Indecent exposure at Majestic Theater

A 27-year-old man with no fixed address was arrested after police said he exposed himself at the Majestic Theater (900 Ellsworth Drive) around 4:30 p.m. on June 30.

Church shed burglarized

A shed at the Hahnuri Baptist Church at 800 Randolph Road was burglarized sometime between June 30 and July 6. Property was stolen after someone forced their way into the shed.

Bethesda

Attempted burglary at oral surgery practice

Someone attempted to break into Kazemi Oral Surgery at 4825 Bethesda Avenue overnight between July 7 and July 8, but was not able to gain entry.

Sex assault on Grosvenor Lane

A sex assault was reported in the 5700 block of Grosvenor Lane on July 1. Police said the victim knows the suspect.

Bicycle stolen on Elliott Road

A bicycle was taken from an open garage at a residence in the 5300 block of Elliott Road sometime between July 2 and July 4.

Theft on Wisconsin Avenue

Two men took property from someone in the 5500 block of Wisconsin Avenue on July 1 sometime between noon and 12:30 p.m.

Vehicles burglarized in Westmoreland Hills

Nine vehicles were burglarized, although none showed signs of forced entry, in the Westmoreland Hills area. The incidents occurred primarily during overnight hours, and cash, GPS units, DVD players and glasses were reportedly taken.

Vehicles burglarized in Greentree/Wyngate neighborhood

Cash, GPS units and glasses were also reported stolen in six vehicle burglary incidents in the Greentree/Wyngate neighborhood. Police said four incidents occurred between July 3 and July 4, and the other two occurred overnight between July 6 and July 7.

Vehicles burglarized on Flushing Meadow Terrace

Loose cash and other small items were taken from two vehicles in the 3200 block of Flushing Meadow Terrace during the early morning hours of June 30.

North Bethesda

Rock throwing on Nicholson Lane

An aggravated assault was reported in the 5800 block of Nicholson Lane on July 6 around 1:30 a.m. Police reported the suspects were throwing rocks.

Peeping Tom incident

A man was seen looking into windows in the 500 block of Macon Road.

Person spotted attempting to take a tire from a vehicle

An individual was seen attempting to take a tire from a vehicle in the 500 block of Cloister Drive between 11:30 p.m. on July 6 and shortly after midnight on July 7. The person fled when spotted and police did not release a description of the suspect.

Vehicles burglarized in King Farm area

Loose property was taken from eight vehicles in the King Farm area overnight from July 2 to July 3. The vehicles were either unlocked or police did not know how entry was made.

Burglary on Dundee Road

Someone forced their way into a residence in the 3500 block of Dundee Road on July 3 around 4:45 a.m. and took property.
