Strathmore's new two-day food festival, “Appetite – A Gastronomic Experience”, will feature celebrity chefs, food trucks, cooking demonstrations, food purveyors and live music scattered about the music center’s North Bethesda campus next month.
Food Network star Giada De Laurentiis will be there on Friday, August 1, while Andrew Zimmern, the star of the Travel Channel’s “Bizarre Foods” is scheduled to appear Saturday, August 2.
Laurentiis is set to appear Friday at 7 p.m., but the bulk of the activities will take place on Saturday from 11 a.m. into the evening. Zimmern is scheduled to talk at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday night.
Local chefs like Todd Gray of Equinox Restaurant will host a “talk and taste” presentation, while cheese, coffee, chocolate and olive purveyors will be discussing their food specialties. Chefs Robert Wiedmaier (Mussel Bar, Marcel’s) and Jeff Mahin (Summer House) will host cooking demonstrations. And there’s also a special beer garden planned as well as a pig roast.
Outdoors, food trucks such as Red Hook Lobster Pound, The Culinary Nomad, Corned Beef King, Dolci Gelati, and Jose Andres’ Pepe will be on hand serving up their food.
Tickets to the event range from $44 (for one celebrity headliner presentation) to $225 (for an all-access weekend pass). You can find more information on Strathmore’s website.
