The Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County on Thursday announced $3.5 million worth of county government-funded grants to local arts groups, including a number of organizations in Bethesda and North Bethesda.
The Council is a nonprofit that serves as Montgomery County’s designated local arts agency. In that role, it manages and distributes county arts funding. This fiscal year, the county operating budget includes $3.5 million, much of which will go toward well-known groups such as Strathmore, Imagination Stage and Adventure Theatre MTC.
There are also grants for smaller groups and some individual artists. The Levine School of Music, which operates a North Bethesda program out of the Music Center at Strathmore, will get $99,000. Bethesda’s The Writer’s Center, which operates out of a former community center on Walsh Street, will get $43,000.
