A neighbor watched as a man appeared to prepare to break into a Chevy Chase Village home on Saturday morning.
The neighbor called police, and may have also scared off the would-be intruder with his movements, according to Chevy Chase Village police.
The suspect, who police are asking the public’s help to identify, was captured in surveillance video moving around the fenced backyard of the home in the 5400 block of Grove Street. In the video, the man can be seen taking off his shirt, then appear to notice something, which police said may have been the neighbor. After that, the man puts back on his shirt and ran away toward Western Avenue, according to police.
Police said they arrived at the home less than 2 minutes after the neighbor called, but the man was already gone.
