Pastry shop on Woodmont Avenue "redoing pretty much everything"

Owners Jerome and Sofia Colin hoped the expansion of their small pastry shop at 7831 Woodmont Ave. would take about a month.

So when they closed Tout De Sweet in early June to begin renovating and expanding, they also posted a sign saying the shop would reopen on June 18. But as these things tend to go, contractors and inspectors took longer than expected, Jerome Colin said Monday, and the pastry shop remains under construction.

Now Tout De Sweet is hoping to unveil its renovations in about two weeks. Colin said they’re “redoing pretty much everything.” That includes expanding the kitchen, adding tables and seating and installing new bakery displays.

The Colins negotiated with the landlord to take over a portion of space formerly occupied by Gaylords Lamps and Shades at 7833 Woodmont after Gaylords closed last fall.

The portion of the retail space at 7833 Woodmont not taken by Tout De Sweet is still for lease by Streetsense.

Tout De Sweet opened in Bethesda in June 2011 and is known for its macarons, cakes and cupcakes.
