20 Injured in School Bus Collision on River Road

19 children and one adult injured in the crash

Last updated May 15 at 11 a.m. – Twenty people suffered minor injuries, including 19 children, after a school bus and car collided in Bethesda on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Montgomery County Fire Department.

The fire department said on its Twitter account that the collision occurred near the intersection of River Road and Seven Locks Road around 1:45 p.m.

A medical ambulance is transporting the children and one adult to Children’s Hospital, according to the fire department. Blanca Kling, a county police spokesperson, said those who were injured were taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

Police said the school bus was carrying students from the D.C. Public School System. The students' ages were mostly 11 to 12 year olds, according to police.

Crash reconstruction experts are investigating what happened, said Kling.
