The FBI is asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who robbed two Silver Spring banks while wearing a Detroit Lions hat.

Agents say the man robbed the Capital One Bank at 11261 New Hampshire Ave. on April 21, and then struck again at the Capital One Bank at 11241 Georgia Ave. In both robberies, agents said he handed the tellers a note demanding money and threatening to use a weapon.

The FBI released surveillance photos of a man wearing a black and blue Detroit Lions hat, black sunglasses and black clothing in both bank robberies. He was described as about 40 years old, with a salt and pepper beard.

Agents suspect the man also attempted to rob a Wells Fargo bank wearing the same hat in Baltimore on April 21, but left after being approached by a bank employee.
