Round House received awards for “Outstanding Ensemble Play;” “Outstanding Director, Resident Play” (Mitchel Hebert); and the “Robert Prosky Award for Outstanding Lead Actor “(Rick Foucheux).
“This year we were nominated for eight awards and won three,” said Ryan Rilette, producing artistic director at Round House. “That’s more nominations than we received in the past five years combined and the first time we’ve won three awards since 2005.”
Olney Theatre Center won two Helen Hayes Awards for its production of “A Chorus Line.” The musical won for “Outstanding Resident Musical” and for “Outstanding Lead Actress, Resident Musical” (Jessica Vaccaro).
Imagination Stage, the children’s theater in Bethesda, won in the category “Outstanding Production, Theatre for Young Audiences” for its production of “Anime Momotaro.”
