Adat Shalom’s Haiti Project

April 4, 2014 5:17 p.m.

For the past three years, Adat Shalom Reconstructionist Congregation in Bethesda has been offering financial and spiritual support for the Nouvelle Institution Chretienne de Leogane (NICL), an elementary school in Leogane, Haiti run by Pastor Johnny Felix.

NICL is the only educational opportunity available to these children in a country where less than half of all children receive any form of formal schooling. Each mission spends about a week in Haiti, building houses and spending time with Pastor Johnny’s congregation and his NICL school.

Just this past month, Pastor Johnny made his first trip out of his country at the invitation of Adat Shalom. He spoke to the congregation as well as to the students in Adat Shalom’s Torah School.
