Ice Cold Metro Escalators

January 7, 2014 11:05 a.m.

Thanks to reader Teyo for sending in the above shot of icicles over a closed escalator on Tuesday morning at the Bethesda Metro station.

This is the so-called “drippy” escalator that is known to sprinkle water on people. With temperatures in the single digits and a wind chill below zero, that didn’t fly today.

Meanwhile, a broken rail on the east side of the Red Line, probably due to the frigid weather, caused delays on the system.
