Add a giant, clear menorah full of toys to the list of quirky Bethesda Row Chanukah displays.
On Sunday, Dec. 1 at 5:30 p.m., the Chabad Center of Bethesda will host the 6th annual Chanukah Family Spectacular at Bethesda Row. Each year, the event has included a menorah — the candlestick holder used to commemorate the eight-day holiday — made of something unique.
Last year’s event featured an 18-foot wide, 10-foot tall menorah made of balloons. Others have been made of legos, ice and jelly beans.
Sunday’s lighting will feature a menorah filled with 1,000 toys, a nod to the toy drive for The Children’s Inn at NIH that will accompany the event.
State Sen. Brian Frosh will help light the menorah and the event will include ballons, live music, latkes and a gift for each child.
It starts at 5:30 p.m. on Bethesda Lane. Chanukah starts on Wednesday night.
