Leggett Starts Making Pitch For Third Term – At a fundraiser on Sunday in Silver Spring, County Executive Isiah Leggett compared leading the county during a recession to “live-fire situations” he faced as an Army captain in the Vietnam War. Leggett didn’t mention challengers Doug Duncan, who preceded Leggett as county executive, or Councilmember Phil Andrews. He did say the government he inherited from Duncan was like an ocean liner that appeared in good shape above the sea level but had structural problems below. The event raised about $7,000. The menu includes banh mi sandwiches, Pakistani tacos, a bacon duck burger and The Mo, a triple-decker burger that honors the Mighty Mo burger of Hot Shoppes lore. Markham took over the space from Majestic Bar and Grill. [Robert Dyer @ Bethesda Row]
