UPDATED: Tornado Watch In Effect For D.C. Area

June 10, 2013 2:10 p.m.

UPDATE 7:05 p.m. The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Warning for northern Montgomery County until 7:30 p.m. The severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado is not expected to affect the downcounty area.

Earlier today, NWS issued a Tornado Watch in effect until 10 p.m.

A Tornado Watch is issued when weather conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms that are capable of producing tornadoes.

The Tornado Warning follows:
