UPDATE at 4:45 p.m. President Barack Obama is visiting troops at Walter Reed today, which means the road was shut down in time for the evening rush hour.
Montgomery County Police shut down the road between Battery Lane and Cedar Lane at about 4:15 p.m. It was reopened shortly before 4:45 p.m.
The Washington Post reported a one-mile stretch of Wisconsin Avenue/Rockville Pike will be closed until about 6 p.m. today. A Montgomery County Police spokesperson said the Department can not confirm any information about a road closure for Obama’s visit, but the road is now open. Other than the Washington Post report, no advanced word was given about the closure.
Obama’s official White House schedule had him leaving his visit at 4:35 p.m. and he reportedly arrived back at the White House around 4:45 p.m.
