Benny’s Bar & Grill, a 1940s-reminscent eatery serving American comfort food and old-time cocktails, opened on Saturday, according to the restaurant’s Facebook page.
Located in Potomac’s Cabin John Shopping Center & Mall, the restaurant is the brainchild of Benson Fischer, an entrepreneur and business developer (see my March 20 blog).
Before the place opened, Fischer liked to say it was going to serve “the best damn drinks in town.” But you may want to wait a week or two before sampling them, as Fischer said today that the restaurant needs a little more time to break in, and the staff is still being trained.
In the meantime, check out the restaurant’s Facebook page, which includes construction pictures, as well as a photo of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin at what looks like a bar. Underneath the snapshot is a quote attributed to Sinatra: “I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day.”
