On April 27, A Wider Circle hosted the Race to End Poverty. A Wider Circle is a local non-profit organization dedicated to helping families and individuals to rise out of poverty and funds raised from the event went directly to that goal.
The Race to End Poverty featured a 4K to represent the organization's goal of furnishing 4,000 homes in 2013. The event also included a Tot Trot for the littlest racers. Approximately 500 people participated overall. County Executive Ike Leggett, Councilman Hans Riemer, WUSA 9's Lesli Foster, and even Homer from Bethesda Big Train were on hand to show their support.
